There will be a variety of horses available for all levels of experience but on the whole the quality is more trail-riding than the Olympics.
Most operators will use English style saddles or the traditional ‘stock’ saddle of Australia which is similar to the Western-style saddle more popular in the US.
Other safety equipment like helmet will be provided but riders should remember to wear a flat sport or boot-style shoes as well as jeans or other comfortable, close-fitting trousers or pants. Sunscreen and bottled water are also worth taking along.
Just about all the main horseriding tour operators are fully accredited with the Australian Horse Industry Council and will supply trained horses and competent guides.
However visitors need to be aware that they will have to sign a ‘waiver of liability’ form and could be expected to pay an insurance levy of around $12 per person on top of the tour cost.
