Have a wet and wild adventure with whitewater rafting.

Whitewater rafting is one of the most popular adventure activities in the Cairns region.

There are a number of excellent tour operators that will organise trips to the Tully and South Johnstone areas south of Cairns for rafting day trips.

Although it can look dangerous, rafting is a well-established tourism industry that has an excellent safety record. There are some restrictions on the age of visitors wanting to go rafting and since you have to get down to the riverbank it’s not accessible for those in wheelchairs.

If you can relax enough to look around while you’re zooming down the river, visitors will also have the opportunity to see some great pristine rainforest.

tips for white-water rafting

Remember to take a change of clothes and to use waterproof sunscreen.

Lunch is usually provided on day trips by the rafting company, but it’s worth taking snacks and bottled water.

Get a waterproof case for your digital camera or buy a one use only waterproof camera. Professional photographs are available but will usually cost extra.
