it\'s true, some sporting facilities in the region need to be looked at and reworked, even rebuilt, but people need to get over the fact that the CEP is going ahead, and cairns has been suffering for many years because of the inadequate arts facilities. mnt isa gets the australian ballet perfroming in their theatre, but the refuse to come to cairns because the civic stage does not meet their requirements... it\'s the same infrastructure problems all over cairns, it just so happens that the CEP got in first. and corina drew... the council is put in place to make sure there are things for locals to do as well, not just tourists.

Then you wonder why 90% of the Cairns population whinge, cry and bitch that Townsville gets everything and Cairns gets nothing! Well Mr Entsch is trying to change all that but hes up against a brick wall with these thick headed councillors who would rather waste money upgrading \'dead-end\' facilities like the squashy Barlow Park. Townsville is way ahead of Cairns and all Cairns is worried about is freshening up with more greenery...Who Cares! We need infrastructure right now!

I look forward to working closely with Warren Entsch on a shared vision for sports development in Cairns if I am fortunate enough to be elected to council in April.

Having lived in Darwin for 20+ years I saw the numours benifits of having world clas training facilities. Many Australian teams teams conducted climatisation training in winter prior to heading to event s in the norther summers. International teams regularly have friendly events with teams. The Arafura Games are held every two years bringing competitors from all over the Asia Pacific. The NT population is only that of the CRC. These present day councillors would not have a clue and the sooner they are voted out the better.

In your dreams Corina. There are a large number people in this town whose tastes go even further than watching sweaty individuals groping each other in the tropical heat.

Petition for second southern roadway into Cairns >>

People who insist on blurring this IMPORTANT issue - exactly the way BOTH major parties dearly want it to be - by pushing their own political agendas can go soak their heads IMO!! Necessity - indeed the IMMEDIATE URGENCY - of having an alternative route to unload the existing Southern Corridor and privide redundancy - without even considering future proofing of improved access etc. - IS A BLOODY NO BRAINER!! How on earth something so simple can be made into such a mess astounds me - good grief we have some waffling loons in this town!!!

Cairns tenant from hell gets eviction order >>

The worst part is that this bogan will be moving to another area to make other peoples lives miserable. It is really unfair that these ferral people are not dealt with more harshly. Bart Hall of Cairns, I may be naive but how come you cant do anything about these people causing trouble over the road?

Council turns page after reading mood on Abbott St library >>

This Council listening to the rate payers what a joke. There must be an election looming and Val Schier the liar and her band of bullshit artists are sucking up to the ratepayer after treating us like excreta for the past 4 years.
